Winter is coming. The good news is that winter doesn’t tend to stay around for too long and we will be reaching for our beach towels again soon enough. The bad news is if we continually gravitate towards café hot chocolates and bags of hot chips to combat the chilliness – we may not be so eager to rock our bikini come Summer time.
Here at Healthy Mommy H.Q, we are here to remind you that winter isn’t a time to skip the gym and hide away in baggy clothes. Rather – it’s the perfect opportunity to focus on you – tackle your weight loss goals and feel excited to ditch the coats and track pants come the sunny season.
With that said, here are 10 ways to get your winter body ready for summer.
10 Ways To Get Your Winter Body Ready For Summer
1. Put On Your Summer Workout Clothes
It’s easy to hide our body behind jumpers and warmer clothes. It’s usually only when we start flashing more flesh that we realize we may not be super keen on our arms or thighs. Our advice is to put on your summer activewear (especially when working out at home) so you’re not in for any surprises when the warmer weather comes around.
2. Focus On An Area You Want To Improve
Not a fan of your arms? Now is the time to keep chipping away at your arm exercises. The improvements will be a lot more noticeable when you ditch your extra layers in the warmer months.
3. Quit Alcohol
Winter usually equals more time inside, so why not take take the opportunity to give up alcohol for this period. Your body will thank you for it.
4. Sleep In
Many people feel like they have less energy in the cooler periods. So why not use this time to nap, have more lie-ins (if your kids will allow you to) and or hit the sack earlier. A recent study revealed that people who sleep more have lower BMIs.
5. Work Out At Home
You don’t need to be outside or go to a gym to get the body you want. There are tons of exercises you can do at home. Check out Sascha’s Energizing and Calorie Burning Exercises you can do at home!
6. Get Your Soup On
What better way to warm up than by tucking into a delicious hot soup? Our Minestrone Soup is only 333 calories per serve.
7. Brush Your Body In The Shower
Colder weather = longer periods in a hot shower in the morning to warm up! So why not use this time to give your body a good brush down with a body brush. This will help improve circulation, rejuvenate skin and help banish cellulite.
8. Cleanse Your Body
Most people’s schedule tends to slow down when the weather isn’t as sunny, so this is the perfect opportunity to give your body a cleanse.
Our Ultimate 3 Day Cleanse could be just the thing you need. Detoxing or cleansing can help to remove the unwanted toxins from the body, improve your metabolism and kickstart your energy levels.
9. Take Up Gardening
Even if it’s too cold where you are to start growing our own vegetables, you can plant certain crops designed to withstand the winter weather. There’s nothing stopping you from getting your gardening patch / space on the balcony ready this winter. You may be digging an area or moving pots into place – this doubles up as a good workout. You’ll feel fit and refreshed and the best bit is your seeds will be ready to bloom in spring.
