You’ve lost the weight and you’re feeling fitter and more confident about yourself, but there’s one annoying thing you want to banish for good – the appearance of your orange peel skin.
Cellulite is formed after muscle breaks or is stretched and pulled down causing fat cells to push up and give that horrible blotchy cottage cheese complexion under your skin.
But how do you get rid of it and make it never return? While it may not be possible to get rid of it forever, there are ways you can reduce the appearance of it and form a beautiful, smooth flawless complexion.
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is pockets of fat that have squeezed between bands of tissue, called septae, that are under your skin.
Between 80-90% of women have cellulite yet very few men have it. This is because women have flimsier vertical septae that fat can more easily push through.
Whereas men have sturdier bands in a crisscross formation that keeps fat in place more effectively.
It doesn’t matter what size you are, both thin and heavy women get cellulite. However, the more body fat you have, the more likely you are to also have significant dimpling.
While it is not possible to get rid of cellulite it is possible to minimize its appearance (see picture above).
Here are 11 helpful ways to say goodbye to your orange peel skin….
1. Drink lots of water
There are a HEAP of benefits from drinking water, such as it speeds up your metabolism, helping you feel fuller for longer and keeping you hydrated. If your skin is hydrated then it appears smoother.
Water can also help encourage circulation and lymphatic flow.
2. Eat a healthy diet
Make sure you eat a healthy diet, one that doesn’t contain high salt intake. Salt causes your fat cells to swell, and this can worsen the appearance of cellulite. Make sure you load up on healthy fruits and veggies.
3. Use a body brush
Body brushes help improve circulation around your body and this also encourages your cellulite to break down and give a smoother appearance.
4. Consume more antioxidant-rich foods
Make sure you include plenty of antioxidant-rich foods in your diet. Antioxidants are your number one defense against free radicals, which cause damage to skin cells and can contribute to cellulite formation.
Antioxidant-rich foods are not only good in helping to reduce cellulite they are great for your overall health.
Antioxidant-rich superfoods include red, purple and blue grapes, red berries (strawberries and raspberries), nuts (walnuts and brazil nuts), dark green vegetables (broccoli, kale, spinach), orange vegetables (sweet potatoes, butternut squash, pumpkin carrots), whole grains (brown rice), beans (black beans, kidney beans, lentils), fish (sardines, salmon, oysters, mackerel, tuna steak, wild rainbow trout, shark steak, albacore tuna, and herring).

5. Exercise often
Not only does regular exercise burn calories and reduces fat, but it also boosts circulation and can help disguise cellulite by increasing muscle tone under the skin.
Exercise helps tighten the skin and also reduce excess weight that can also contribute to orange peel skin.
Exercise improves lymphatic drainage, which carries toxins away from cells. If drainage is sluggish it will contribute to cellulite and we definitely don’t want that!.
Exercises that focus on the thighs and glutes such as squats are great at targeting cellulite. Go low and slow for the best results.

7. Do a regular body scrub
A regular body scrub can improve circulation and reduce signs of cellulite.
With any scrub, moisten your skin under the shower, turn the water off, rub coffee granules into the affected areas for a few minutes, then rinse off.
8. Drink green tea
Green tea contains a powerful antioxidant that also helps with weight loss. This, in turn, can also help with the appearance of cellulite.
It has been found to be effective for increasing energy expenditure and assisting with weight loss. And is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent free radical damage.
9. Limit or cut out toxins like tobacco, alcohol, coffee and highly processed foods
Many of us can’t imagine getting through our day without coffee and wine but unfortunately, a build-up of toxins in the body can affect the dermis and contribute to cellulite formation.
Try to remove or at least limit your consumption of tobacco, alcohol, coffee and heavily processed foods containing high levels of sugar and chemical additives to help improve the clarity of your skin. These things will also make you feel dehydrated and make your skin seem dry and shrivelled.
10. Get enough sleep
Sleep is important to help revitalize our bodies. The more sleep you get, the less likely you are going to need coffee or make bad food choices.
11. Eat good fats
If you eat food that is high is vitamins A, C and E as well as selenium, manganese and zinc it should help get rid of the dreaded dimpled skin.
