Whether your child has already gone back or will be doing so in the next few weeks, it seems the majority of moms are stressed about the return of school.
And no wonder, the jolt back into routine after the school holidays is enough to get anyone feeling anxious.
63% of moms are stressed about their kids going back to school
According to a new survey from educational child care center Kiddie Academy, 63% of moms admitted they felt stressed about the first day of school.
Here are some things some moms may be nervous about after a long break:
- Making packed lunches
- Getting everyone out the house on time
- The clothes their kids will wear to school
- Being apart from their kids in the day
“If you find a way to start those days with your child in the morning with positive actions, that’s also going to lessen your anxiety as you build a routine,” Dr. Sarah Bode, who is the spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics, told Healthline.
“Parents have to set the tone. If they’re showing a lot of nerves or anxiety or questioning around whether this is the right school choice or how their child is going to handle going there, their kids are going to pick up on that.”
Are you feeling stressed about your kids going back to school?
If the anxiety becomes overwhelming it may be worth talking with a teacher or your doctor to find a way to get to the route of the problem.
Meanwhile, 63% of moms were looking forward to their kids going back to school
Contrastingly, a similar study was conducted by Mummy Pages in Ireland and found that 63% of moms were looking forward to their kids heading back to school!
91% of mothers surveyed revealed they looked forward to getting back into a routine. More than a third (34%) said they were keen to have some free time for themselves.
More than one in four (43%) found it exhausting trying to entertain their kids during the summer holidays.
