What our Nutrition Director believes is the best strategy to lose weight

Our Nutrition Director Samantha Cassetty recently caught up with our founder Rhian Allen to chat tips and advice for moms who want to succeed in their weight loss goals.

Ms Cassetty is a nationally recognized food, nutrition, and wellness expert. She is a highly sought-after expert for both broadcast and print media outlets and writes a column for NC News Better whilst also running a private nutrition coaching practice.

Top tips to help moms lose weight

Rhian chats to Samantha about her advice to moms looking to lose weight, offers her top tips and strategies to help moms be successful in their weight loss goals.

What would you say is the number one strategy moms have to have successfully lose weight?

Samantha says, “It’s not about doing anything short-term it’s about taking a long-term view but it doesn’t have to be monumental. It could be little things like realistic exercises and realistic recipes. And when you incorporate that you can lose weight and feel better.”

What do you think the number one mistake is that moms make?

Samantha says, “I think feeling like when you fall off that it’s over is the biggest mistake. Slip ups or I wouldn’t even call them slip-ups, it’s actually life.

We’re all going to enjoy an indulgence I’m always going to be pizza and  brownies and those are real parts of life and it’s unrealistic to expect you would never participate in those.

But if you do just think back to all the things you learned you know before and the strategies that we’re working for you and resume.”

A bit more about Samantha

She previously served as the nutrition director for Good Housekeeping and nutrition correspondent for Drop 5 Lbs with Good Housekeeping on the Cooking Channel. She is an author of The Girlfriends Diet and contributor to the New York Times bestseller 7 Years Youngerand the follow-up 7 Years Younger: The Anti-Aging Breakthrough Diet.

Samantha received her bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and her master’s degree in clinical nutrition from Boston University. She resides in New York City with her teenage son.
