SMARTER kids tend to be more obsessed with DINOSAURS, claim experts
Is your little one OBSESSED with everything dinosaur?
If your child can tell the difference between a T-Rex and a Diplodocus, then you may have a little genius in the family!
Kids who love dinosaurs have higher intelligence
According to a study by the University of Indiana and the University of Wisconsin, kids who have an “intense interest” in prehistoric animals may have a higher intelligence.
Researchers believe that dinosaur-obsessed children have an improved attention, and a more complex way of thinking and processing information.
Paleontologist Kenneth Lacovara told CNN:“For kids, the magic’s not just in imagining these real, massive creatures of long ago – but also about knowing more than your parents for the first time.
“It makes them feel powerful. Their parent may be able to name three or four dinosaurs and the kid can name 20, and the kid seems like a real authority.”
Don’t worry if your child isn’t into dinosaurs
But if your child isn’t a fan of Jurassic World, then don’t be disheartened.
Scientists say a fascination with ANY topic shows the sign of intelligence. Whether it’s cars, unicorns or the Wiggles!
“Exploring a topic and mastering it is beneficial because that’s how we form careers as adults,” pediatric psychiatric occupational therapist also told CNN.
“A kid’s primary occupation is play, so they’re going about their job of playing through the lens of this thing they’re interested in learning about.”
