5 excuses you need to STOP making NOW!

Excuses. We all have them when we’re not in the mood to exercise or eat well. But unfortunately, excuses won’t get us the results we so desperately want.

Healthy Mommy Annette Palma says she decided to drop the excuses when she joined the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and she’s feeling better for it,

“After having my third baby I had to drop the excuses because otherwise I would have been stuck in the same old rut,” she says.

Here are the 5 excuses Annette helps to explain in more detail.

5 excuses you need to stop making NOW!

1. ‘I’m tired’

‘I used this excuse ALL the time! Why? Because it’s true. I am tired. I actually think I’ve almost forgotten what it feels like to NOT be tired. I’ll probably be tired until all three of my kids are grown up and have moved out of home!

To be honest, if I waited until I wasn’t tired anymore I wouldn’t exercise for the next twenty years or so. My little boy wakes up at least two to three times per night and has done that every night since he was four months old.

To say I am/was tired is an understatement.

But getting up and getting a workout in from the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge app is honestly what got me through those hard days. Those endorphins and the burst of energy that comes from completing a workout helped me to better cope physically, emotionally and mentally.  You just need to get past that mental barrier and get it done.’

2. ‘I don’t have time’

‘I don’t think there is a mother on this planet that wouldn’t love to have an extra couple of hours in each day!

We are ALL time poor, whether we are a stay at home mom, working mom, have one child or ten children. Everyone has their own challenges. The hard truth is that if you want it badly enough, you’ll MAKE the time.

You will juggle things around and find thirty minutes for exercise, twenty minutes to meal plan or an hour or two to do some meal prep.

It’s not the first time I’ve gotten up at 5 am to get a workout in or got it done after the kids went to bed at night. Do I love it? No. But if it’s the only change I have to get it done then that’s what I have to do.’

3. ‘I can’t exercise with my kids’

‘Don’t for a minute think that every mom who exercises with her children has perfectly well-behaved kids. Because I can pretty much guarantee you that she doesn’t.

I work out at home using the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge app with my six-year-old, three-year-old and eight-month-old in tow. Are there times when I have to stop and they drive me crazy? Absolutely. Are there times when a twenty-minute workout takes me 40 minutes? Absolutely. But you can’t put a price on the amazing example you’re setting for your children!

Some days they join in, some days they don’t. Some days I manage to fit that workout in while my eight-month-old is napping, other days I use him as my weight! We make it fun. We make it work for us.

I also love that I’ve discovered a kid-friendly place to do group fitness. It’s so nice to meet new people, get a workout in and not worry about paying for a crèche on top of classes.’

4. ‘Healthy eating is too expensive’

‘Before I became a Healthy Mommy, this would have been one of my top excuses. But I was 100% wrong.

The 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge has shown me that with a bit of planning and preparation healthy eating does not have to be too expensive.

In fact, my grocery bill is actually cheaper now than it was when I was buying all our snacks, as well as pre-made sauces and packaged foods. Plus, I love that my shopping trolley is always full of fresh fruit and vegetables now!’

5. ‘It’s too hard’

‘I can totally relate to this. You want the results to be instant and when they’re not it can feel like all the hard work just isn’t worth it. But you know what? It totally is.

Feeling confident in your clothes, in your body, and within yourself is 100 percent worth it. And behind every amazing weight loss transformation you see is a whole lot of hard work, dedication, and determination.

Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy!’
